Compensation:

$35.65/hr to $48.03/hr. Competitive benefit package is available including health, dental, WRS, holiday pay, vacation pay and sick time.

Hours:

32-hour work week, non-exempt. Occasional nights may be necessary to accommodate meetings and elections.

Position Objectives:

 

The Town of Buchanan (Outagamie County) seeks to replace its retiring Town Clerk/Treasurer.

 

Under general administrative direction by the Town Administrator (day-to-day supervision), the Clerk-Treasurer plans, directs, manages, and performs the activities and operations for the combined office of Town Clerk as required by Section 60.33, Wisconsin Statutes and Town Treasurer as required by Section 60.34, Wisconsin Statutes. The Clerk-Treasurer acts as a member of the Town management team; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative tasks associated with municipal government.

Desirable Training and Experience:

 

Associate degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related field preferred. One (1) to three (3) years of experience working in a government environment or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Completion of training at the Wisconsin Municipal Treasurers & Clerks Institute is preferred otherwise training will be required to be completed during the course of the job. Certification as Certified Municipal Treasurer, Certified Municipal Clerk of Wisconsin is preferred.


Individuals should have some customer service experience, excellent communication and organizational skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Word,Excel and related programs. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented,
friendly, some flexibility with schedule, able to manage confidential data, able to multi-task, work independently and must be self-motivated. Candidate must be bondable and either possess or has the ability to obtain the following: Notary Public, WisVote Election Training (within 6 months), and Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association Certification (within 5 years of hire).

Timeline
1. Job Ad posted July 10, 2026.
2. Application submittal due August 14, 2026 by 9:00 am.
3. Initial review of candidates by the Town Board at its August 18, 2026 Town Board meeting.
4. Interview with the Town Board potentially as early as the week of August 24th.
5. Candidate selection and appointment shortly after interviews.
6. Start date is negotiable, but the goal is to bring on the new Clerk/Treasurer with enough time before the end of the year for a transition period between the outgoing Clerk/Treasurer and new one as the current one is retiring on December 31, 2026
