The City of Delafield Administrative Office is seeking a dedicated, team-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Administrative and Billing Clerk. This position could be your first steppingstone in a rewarding career in public service. Our goal is to train the right individual to excel in the multitude of administrative roles in the Government sector, and provide ample opportunities for learning and growth, to become qualified for future career advancement opportunities as a Deputy Clerk, Municipal Clerk, and beyond.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work involves performing a wide variety of clerical functions primarily pertaining to the operations of the Clerk’s, Treasurer’s and Administrator’s Offices and requires the application of judgment in the interpretation of policies and regulations. The Administrative and Billing Clerk is the first point of contact for City customers and must be adept in customer service. This position is responsible for duties related to processing quarterly utility billing, financial duties related to accounts payable, accounts receivable and day-to-day cash receipting, receiving and processing applications for various permits, licenses and facilities reservations, support of election duties, assisting with meeting preparation, attending meetings to record minutes for various City Committees, Commissions, and Boards, maintenance of the filing system and record retention processes, updating and maintenance of the City’s website and social media accounts, and other clerical duties. Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED. At least 2 years of experience working in a professional office setting. Proficiency in general accounting skills required. Highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of Products: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook. Highly proficient in the use of Adobe acrobat. Proficient in other software programs as necessary. Ambitious, eager to learn, and a pleasant demeanor to greet visitors to City Hall and help provide information or solve problems.
Desired qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree. Experience working in a government office. Knowledge of Laserfiche record retention program, WisVote, and Civic Systems Caselle Connect financial management program. Experience with various social media platforms and website (CivicPlus) maintenance preferred. Notary public. Knowledge of Roberts Rules of Order and how public government meetings operate. Certified Municipal Clerk or Treasurer, or ability to attend annual week-long certification courses to obtain certification.
Benefits:
Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00/hour depending on qualifications, plus an excellent fringe benefit package.
