Education, Events & Conference
The Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association (WMCA) is dedicated to providing top-tier education and training to help municipal clerks stay informed and compliant with the ever-changing laws and local government requirements in Wisconsin. This commitment drives our mission year-round.
Training Opportunities
- District Training Sessions: Each year, every WMCA district hosts two or three one-day training sessions designed to address key topics relevant to clerks.
- Specialty Classes: Topics like Board of Review, Parliamentary Procedures, and Election Training are scheduled as needed across Wisconsin to meet current demands.
- Annual Education Conference: Held each August, our conference has expanded to two and a half days, featuring up-to-date, relevant sessions addressing the most pressing issues clerks face today. Additionally, a Pre-Conference Day offers specialized classes, including:
- New Clerks Class
- Master Academy Class (offered through UW-Green Bay)
- Athenian Dialogue (sponsored by the Professional Education Committee, PEC)
Clerks & Treasurers Institute
WMCA proudly sponsors the UW-Green Bay Clerks & Treasurers Institute, which is held each summer (typically virtually). This is Wisconsin’s only comprehensive training program for clerks and treasurers, providing:
- 33 hours of education annually over a three-year program with an option to complete a completion track.
- Hands-on learning tailored to real-world job responsibilities.
- Opportunities to network with peers and experts.
- Instruction from a renowned faculty of lawyers, professionals in the field, state employees, consultants, and UW Faculty, ensuring accurate and actionable information.
This program equips clerks and treasurers with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their roles.
