A message from our WMCA President
July 2009
Thanks for the Memories
As I write this I am beaming as a new Grandma, amongst all of the joys of being your WMCA President, on Friday, June 12th my family welcomed two new members to our family. Our daughter and son-in-law welcomed Brooklyn Mackenzie at 10:39 a.m. and our son and daughter-in-law welcomed Braeden Matthew at 1:15 p.m. Both were born at Watertown Memorial Hospital and everyone is healthy. Our association is like a “big” family and I wanted to share my good news with all of you.
I can’t believe that in a few weeks I will be distributing over $11,000 in scholarships to U.W. Green Bay attendees. This is extremely exciting for me. I will also get to distribute certificates to the Class of 2009. I will have the honor of presenting certificates to several very special Clerks one of them being my Deputy, this will be a very special moment for me. A few weeks after that I will be handing the gavel over to Gina Gresch at the Milwaukee conference. I hope that
many of you are planning to attend the 2009 Conference in Milwaukee. It promises to be packed full of valuable classes and lasting memories.
During my “reign” as President, I was able to visit all Eight Districts and attend at least one of their educational meetings. They were all very well attended and the District Directors have done an awesome job of securing excellent educational presenters. I do know that most districts are always looking for suggestions for their meetings, so feel free to share any ideas with your district directors.
I want to take this time to sincerely thank Cindy Hegglund for serving as our Second Vice President the past six years. She has done an excellent job and we will miss her as one of the Officers. Thanks for all you have done with the Quill and all of the knowledge that you have brought to the Executive Board. I
also want to thank Sherry Grant, Roben Haggert, Betty Bruski-Mallek and Stephanie Reinhardt who are retiring as District Directors. Thank-you for all you have done for your districts and your contributions on the Executive Board.
A huge thank you to WMCA for allowing Gina Gresch and myself to attend the IIMC Conference in Chicago. I proudly carried the Wisconsin Flag during the Opening ceremony which was a very emotional time with all 50 states and many countries represented and all together in one building. The conference had over 800 attendees of which 70 were Wisconsin Clerks. The 2009 IIMC Conference was educational, entertaining and exhausting!!
My goal as President was to open many doors and I believe that has been accomplished with the Government Accountability Board, the Promotions Committee working with Lanser Public Affairs and my monthly reports keeping you updated on our association. Thank you for allowing me to serve this past year as your President. My door will always be open and my tiara will “shine” on my shelf and the memories will always be there.
Thanks for the memories,
Nancy
